Speaker Bio

Sumi Han

Sumi Han is the Assistant Director of Operations for SEDAC , the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center. She manages the Illinois Energy Conservation Code Training Program and conducts energy assessments for public sector buildings with a special focus on lighting projects. In 2009 and 2015, Sumi taught "Environmental Technology: Lighting" for the School of Architecture, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

Sumi has been a Certified Energy Manager since 2018, US Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional since 2006 and a Lighting Certified Professional (the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions) since 2001. In addition, Sumi has been an International Association of Lighting Designers Associate since 2008. She has an M.S. in Lighting from Lighting Research Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI); an M.A. in Art Education from UIUC; and an M.E. in City Planning from Hongik University, Seoul, Korea.

 

Ryan Siegel

Ryan Siegel is a Senior Energy Engineer at the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC). Prior to coming to SEDAC, was the Campus Energy & Sustainability Coordinator at Eastern Illinois University since 2002. During this time, Ryan oversaw energy efficiency improvements to the tune of $80 million along with nearly $1 million in energy efficiency rebates. He also oversaw the campus recycling program as well as energy conservation and Utility Auxiliary Enterprise in connection with the Renewable Energy Center.

He received a B.S. in Business in 2006 and an MBA in 2018, both from Eastern Illinois University. Ryan became a Certified Energy Manager in April 2012 and a Licensed Electrician in January 2017.
